Hello Everyone!
Please note that the Arts Division meeting previously scheduled for 4/27 has been changed - it is now on May 10th, 11am-1pm.
As I mentioned before, our theme is Arrogance. We are going to break up into our individual groups for a brief discussion...if you would like to share a short thought on arrogance, please prepare around 2-sentences. And we can submit a question to Greg Martin from our group if we have one so you can start thinking about that (please keep in mind our theme, it must be related to that).
I submitted a quote that I found in Shin Yatomi's book "Buddhism in a New Light." It's from Chapter 9 pages 86-87 and it's about the difference between arrogance and confidence:
Confidence, on the other hand, makes genuine altruism possible. Since confident people's self-worth does not depend upon others, they are free to care for others and fight for their happiness with the hope that it exceeds their own. In fact, the confident see their contribution to others' happiness as proof of their expanding humanity and as a source of great joy.
Genuine confidence is to love and praise ourselves even in the worst possible state, not for how we appear to others but for what we are in the innermost of life.
Audra and I are going to try to schedule a meeting for our group before then, I will let you know if that happens.
Please let us know if you have any questions or need support with anything! And let's all chant for inspired dialogue at our 5/10 meeting.
Best,
Suzanna Regos
